Mears Group has announced the acquisition of Warrington-based property surveying and consultancy firm Pennington Choices Limited. The deal, announced on Monday 15 September 2025, strengthens Mears' capabilities in the social housing sector.
Pennington Choices is a well-established consultancy with 25 years’ experience, employing 150 people and operating nationally across England, Scotland, and Wales. The company provides a wide range of professional and technical services, including fire safety, asbestos management, stock condition surveys, project management, and housing consultancy.
Lucas Critchley, Chief Executive Officer of Mears Group, said: "I am delighted to welcome Pennington Choices to the Group. This collaboration will leverage our complementary strengths and set a shared vision for the future in the compliance space.
"The technical consultancy and compliance expertise of Pennington Choices complements our own national delivery capability, ultimately enabling us to bring to market a joint offering - an end-to-end compliance solution - from asset data capture and risk assessment through to remedial works and ongoing assurance."
The integration of Mears and Pennington Choices will combine professional insight with technical delivery and structured reporting, offering a fully integrated compliance solution. This approach aims to meet current demand while creating a pathway toward Total Asset Management, managing risk, compliance, and investment through a single partner.
Mark Seaborn, Managing Director of Pennington Choices, added: "This is a great time for Pennington Choices to be joining the Mears Group. It follows a sustained period of growth, during which we have achieved commercial success by consistently doing the right things in the right way; with our clients, colleagues, and the wider communities we serve.
"This move secures a strong, long-term future for the business I have dedicated the past 25 years to building and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for everyone connected with Pennington Choices."
Under the acquisition, Pennington Choices will retain its leadership, brand, colleagues, and client base, with no interruption to client services and no changes to the roles of its 150 employees.
