Watkin Jones has secured planning approval from Bristol City Council for a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development in the city’s Temple Quarter regeneration area.

The scheme, to be known as The Ionic, will deliver 322 student bedrooms alongside ground floor commercial space. Located within the Silverthorne Lane Conservation Area, the project has been designed to enhance local heritage while maximising sustainability credentials.

The building will feature air source heat pumps, an electric heating system, and photovoltaic panels, with the capacity to connect to the forthcoming District Heat Network.

Bristol, recognised as one of the UK's greenest cities and home to two long-established universities, continues to face rising demand for accommodation. The Ionic aims to ease pressure on both the student housing and build-to-rent markets, providing modern, sustainable living close to the University of Bristol’s planned new campus.

Situated within walking distance of Temple Meads railway station and the city’s retail and dining hubs, the development will also provide social amenities designed to meet the evolving needs of residents.
