Network Rail Wales and Borders is scheduled to undertake critical railway engineering works along the line connecting Hereford, Newport, and Shrewsbury.
The works are scheduled from Saturday, September 6, to Monday, September 8, with a second phase on the weekend of September 13–14.
The programme of work includes track and drainage upgrades at St Julian's (Newport) and Tram Inn (Hereford), drainage and level crossing maintenance between Cwmbran and Maindee, earthworks and drainage at Little Stretton (Church Stretton to Craven Arms), points renewal and signalling upgrades at Panteg and Pontypool, and vegetation management.
To complete these works safely, sections of the railway will be closed over the weekend, including Newport via Hereford to Shrewsbury, Maindee to Cwmbran, Pontypool and Panteg, and Sutton Bridge Junction (Shrewsbury) to Bromfield, Craven Arms and Church Stretton. Replacement bus services will operate between Newport and Shrewsbury, serving all intermediate stations.
