Network Rail Wales and Borders will be undertaking essential engineering works across key sections of the railway between Hereford, Newport, and Shrewsbury on the weekends of 6 - 8 September and 13 - 14 September.

The works are designed to ensure the railway continues to operate safely and efficiently for both passengers and freight.

Key projects include:

• Track and drainage upgrades at St. Julian's (Newport) and Tram Inn (Hereford)

• Drainage and level crossing maintenance between Cwmbran and Maindee

• Earthworks and drainage improvements at Little Stretton (Church Stretton to Craven Arms)

• Points renewal and signalling upgrades at Panteg and Pontypool

• Vegetation management across the network

To carry out these works safely, several sections of the railway will be closed over the weekends:

• Newport via Hereford to Shrewsbury

• Maindee to Cwmbran, Pontypool, and Panteg

• Sutton Bridge Junction (Shrewsbury) to Bromfield, Craven Arms, and Church Stretton

Replacement bus services will operate between Newport and Shrewsbury, stopping at all intermediate stations.
