Rotherham Council Partners With Keystone Yorkshire

Rotherham Council is joining forces with local developer Keystone Yorkshire Ltd to deliver the second project under its Small Sites Homebuilder Initiative.

Launched in 2023, the initiative is designed to help small and medium-sized developers in the borough unlock land for new, high-quality, affordable homes. It offers a fast-track process for developers to bring forward sites they own or can acquire, with the Council agreeing to purchase the homes off-plan for a set price before construction starts. Staged payments can also be made during the build to assist with project funding.

Keystone Yorkshire Ltd, based in Laughton-en-le-Morthen, will construct nine new homes at the former Albert Club site on Christchurch Road, West Melton. The properties will be available for Council rent and contribute to the authority’s pledge to deliver 1,000 Council homes by summer 2027.

Councillor Linda Beresford, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with local builders Keystone Yorkshire Ltd on this project.

"With the demand for Council housing continuing to rise, it is vital that the Council looks at all opportunities to build good quality, affordable homes for our residents."

Paul Fielding, Company Director at Keystone Yorkshire Ltd, said: "Keystone Yorkshire Ltd is proud to be partnering with Rotherham Council to deliver nine much-needed Council homes for local people. We are also delighted to be providing jobs to local people."

The Small Sites Homebuilder Initiative remains open to applications from developers for current and future schemes, with no closing date set.
