New Ante-Natal Clinic Opens At Bradford Royal Infirmary

Morgan Sindall Construction has completed its latest project for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with the opening of a new ante-natal clinic at Bradford Royal Infirmary’s (BRI) Women's and Newborn Unit.

The facility officially opened on Tuesday, August 12, offering improved services for expectant parents across the district.

Located on level two of the unit, the refurbished clinic features 11 clinical examination rooms, a reception area, and a waiting room for up to 70 people. Around 5,500 babies are born at BRI each year, and the new space forms part of the Trust’s drive to deliver 'Outstanding Maternity Services' for a growing population.

The clinic is part of a £15.5 million refurbishment programme that has already delivered a new gynaecology clinic on level three and an expanded maternity assessment centre (MAC) on level one. The next phase, due for completion in December, will see an ante-natal day unit created in the vacated level two space, alongside two extra MAC bed spaces.

Morgan Sindall's work also generated significant community benefits. Fourteen apprentices and two work experience placements were supported, while 60 hours of educational engagement were delivered. A perfect 45/45 score in the Considerate Constructors Scheme reflected high standards in community, workforce, and environmental responsibility, with 70% local spend, 85% SME spend, and contributions including £2,545.35 for the BRI Reflection Garden.

Environmental performance included diverting 99% of construction waste from landfill and delivering the project entirely diesel-free, using electricity and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) to cut carbon emissions by 10 tonnes of CO₂.
