Kier Property has purchased a four-acre site within Sharston Industrial Estate, South Manchester, with plans to deliver a new Trade City scheme as part of its growing UK industrial portfolio.

Located three miles from Manchester International Airport and 5.5 miles from the city centre, the site offers direct links to the M60 and M56 motorways, making it well positioned for last-mile logistics and regional distribution.

Previously owned and operated by Electrium, part of Siemens AG, the site has a long history in electrical manufacturing. Its existing 130,000 sq ft of industrial buildings — developed and extended over several decades — are no longer suitable for modern logistics needs. Kier Property will redevelop the site into a sustainable, multi-unit industrial and trade scheme, providing 98,000 sq ft across nine units ranging from 5,391 to 34,584 sq ft.

Demolition works are already under way and are due to finish in winter 2025, paving the way for construction to begin in early 2026.

The new scheme will target BREEAM 'Excellent' and EPC 'A' ratings, reinforcing Kier Property’s commitment to high-quality, sustainable industrial assets. Once complete, it will join more than 6.7 million sq ft already delivered under the company’s Trade City and Logistics City brands.
