Cardiff Council has approved the next stage of The Parish housing scheme in Capel Llanilltern, paving the way for 167 new homes and the delivery of key community facilities.

Developer Persimmon Homes East Wales will build a mix of one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses in Phases 4B and 5A of the project, with 62 properties allocated to a local housing association.

The plans also include a Local Centre, first proposed during the outline planning stage, providing almost 19,000 square feet of commercial space. The hub will feature a new public square designed for outdoor dining, markets, and community events.

Construction is scheduled to start this autumn, with the first homes expected to be ready in the second half of next year.

The multiphase development, located on the north-western edge of Cardiff, is set to deliver up to 1,500 homes along with a primary school, shops, offices, sports pitches, and a park-and-ride transport facility.
