G F Tomlinson has paid tribute to 20 of its longest-serving employees at a special Long Service Awards ceremony, honouring a combined 600 years of dedicated service across the business.

Held at the company's head office in Derby, the event brought together employees from various departments including Site Operations, Site Management, Business Development, Health and Safety, Accounts, and Company Directors. Each of the 20 recipients was recognised for continuous service ranging from 25 to an outstanding 38 years.

Group Chairman Andy Sewards hosted the ceremony, delivering a heartfelt speech thanking both the award recipients and the wider team in attendance. The event concluded with a company lunch, offering colleagues a chance to celebrate the milestone achievements together. Each honouree received an engraved commemorative award as a gesture of appreciation.

Among those celebrated was Senior Contracts Manager Paul Thornewill, who marked an incredible 38 years with the company. Also recognised were Tony Lamb (Bricklayer) and Robert McDonald (Groundworker), both with 37 years of service; Stephen Parker (Director & Company Secretary) with 36 years; and Site Manager Matt Smith, who has been with G F Tomlinson for 34 years.

Robert McDonald, who officially retired in March 2025, was acknowledged not only for his decades of service but also for inspiring the next generation, his son, Robert McDonald Junior, is now a member of the team.
