Winvic Installs On-Campus Site Office At Walsall College

Winvic Construction Ltd has unveiled a new purpose-built site office at Walsall College, marking the latest step in its ongoing partnership with the college and reaffirming its commitment to delivering meaningful social value in the community.

The site office, installed by Winvic volunteers and supported by skilled partners across its supply chain, will serve as a dedicated classroom and a fully functional workspace for students studying T Level Construction Design, Surveying & Planning, BTEC Higher National Certificate in Construction Management, and Level 2 courses in Brickwork and Site Carpentry. It will also be used for meetings and to welcome visitors to the college.

Winvic's initiative aims to give students a hands-on experience of what it’s like to work on a live construction project. The space replicates a professional project office environment, helping students to better understand site operations and build the practical knowledge and soft skills needed for future employment.

Kayleigh Merritt at Winvic said: "Having worked with Walsall College over the last three years delivering our Enrichment Programme – which provides students with up to five days of construction industry insight – as well as many other learning initiatives, it’s important to us that students have every opportunity to learn, build confidence in preparation for the world of work and thrive.

"Seeing the available space in the college and wanting to provide as close to a live site project office as possible for the students, Winvic commenced this community project which brought together the shared commitment of Winvic and the college in quality education and experience.

"As a team we are proud to see this space now in use and it having a positive impact on the students' learning experience."

Contributing to the project were cladding specialists Hathaway, who designed and built the internal walls; Bespoke, who installed the fire door; and Central Contractors, who supplied Winvic's signature red paint. All partners donated their time, materials and expertise to bring the project to life.

The site office was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Winvic staff, college representatives including Assistant Principal James Norris, Industry Placement Officer Mandy Cresswell, teaching staff and T Level students supported by Winvic.

This initiative complements Winvic's wider regional social value work, which includes collaboration with Sentinel Park at The Fort Birmingham and various educational outreach programmes such as CV workshops, careers advice, and site visits. Through its structured Enrichment Programme, students receive up to five days of industry exposure to help bridge the gap between classroom learning and the construction sector.

Winvic's dedication to education and employability was recently recognised when the company was named Employer of the Year at Walsall College’s annual STAR Awards, which honour student achievements, staff excellence, and outstanding employer partnerships.

Winvic has supported students across a range of schemes, including West Midlands Interchange, Indurent Park Burton, SEGRO Logistics Park Coventry, and Crown Place in Birmingham.
