VolkerFitzpatrick To Deliver Industrial Development In Biggleswade

VolkerFitzpatrick has been appointed as the principal contractor for a major new industrial scheme in Biggleswade, commissioned by Tritax Big Box Developments.

The project will deliver over 827,000 sq ft of premium industrial and office space across five new units, reinforcing Biggleswade's role as a critical logistics and distribution hub in Central Bedfordshire. The scheme is targeting BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A+ ratings, reflecting both Tritax Big Box and VolkerFitzpatrick’s shared commitment to developing future-ready, energy-efficient buildings that contribute to the UK's net-zero targets.

Located at Symmetry Park, Biggleswade, the development has already commenced construction. It will feature five cutting-edge industrial units ranging from 65,847 to 287,200 sq ft, each incorporating high-spec Grade A office space. The project also includes significant external infrastructure, such as service yards, car parking, drainage systems, landscaping and incoming services.

British bakery brand Warburtons has been confirmed as the first occupier, signalling strong early interest in the site from major national tenants.

In line with its corporate social responsibility commitments, VolkerFitzpatrick is actively engaging with the local community throughout the delivery of the project. This includes working closely with local supply chain contractors, offering employment opportunities, apprenticeships and community outreach initiatives.

Recent efforts have included support for the Biggleswade Food Bank, fundraising for local charities, and volunteering activities at the Herald Resource Centre, a facility run by learning disability charity Hft. VolkerFitzpatrick staff and project partners helped transform the centre’s garden, creating a more welcoming and accessible space for its users.
