Glencar Appointed For Panattoni Park Braintree Development

Glencar has been appointed as the main contractor for the delivery of Panattoni Park Braintree, an extension to the existing Horizon 120 Business Park and a major new logistics facility being developed by Panattoni.

The project will see the construction of a high-specification facility, featuring 171,915 sq ft of warehouse space and 12,645 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation. Designed with a clear internal height of 12.5 metres to haunch, the scheme will be built to Category A fit-out standard and is targeting both EPC A+ and BREEAM Excellent ratings for environmental performance.

Roy Jones, Managing Director at Glencar, said: "We're delighted to be working with Panattoni once again on the delivery of the first speculative unit at Panattoni Park Braintree. This project reinforces our shared commitment to creating highly sustainable, future-ready logistics facilities and highlights Glencar's growing presence across the South East. Our teams are fully focused on delivering a best-in-class scheme that meets the highest standards in design, performance and delivery."

Ethan Greene, Development Manager at Panattoni, added: "Panattoni Park Braintree represents another important development in our strategy to deliver Grade-A sustainable logistics facilities in supply-constrained areas. We're pleased to be partnering with Glencar on this project, a contractor that shares our values around sustainability, quality, and execution. We look forward to seeing the scheme come forward."

Construction began at the end of June 2025, with practical completion expected in April 2026. Initial works include full groundworks, such as a topsoil strip, reuse of suitable material, ground stabilisation to 200kPa, and traditional pad foundations.

The scheme has been designed with a focus on sustainability and environmental performance, and will target net zero in construction. Key green features include:

• Use of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel to lower embodied carbon

• Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels for renewable energy generation

• Comprehensive EV charging infrastructure

• Low-energy lighting systems

• Efficient MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) installations

• Integration of low-carbon technologies wherever feasible

The appointment marks a continued collaboration between Glencar and Panattoni, and signals another step forward in the delivery of top-tier logistics infrastructure in the South East.
