Galliford Try Digital Infrastructure has been appointed by Dumfries and Galloway Council to lead the design and pre-construction phase of a new programme of Mobility Hubs aimed at supporting low-carbon travel across the region.

The project, secured through the Crown Commercial Service's Construction Works and Associated Services framework, marks a significant step in Galliford Try's expansion into Electric Vehicle (EV) charging and sustainable transport infrastructure.

The planned Mobility Hubs will form part of a wider investment in active and sustainable transport supported by the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund, which is aimed at improving local infrastructure, revitalising town centres and enhancing everyday life across the UK.

Designed to encourage the uptake of greener transport options, the hubs will integrate a range of facilities including rapid and dual EV charging bays, smart-enabled bike and e-bike storage, a car sharing club, cycle repair stations and a community space featuring real-time journey information. The project will also utilise low-carbon construction methods, aligning with the council's wider climate goals.

The initiative is intended to benefit local communities by making sustainable travel more accessible and convenient, contributing to regional efforts to reduce emissions and support healthier, more connected lifestyles.
