Galliford Try Staff Honoured At British Ex-Forces In Business Awards

Two Galliford Try employees have received commendations at this year's British Ex-Forces in Business Awards, recognising their outstanding contributions and leadership within the construction industry after transitioning from military service.

Pam McNeill, Business Assurance Manager for Galliford Try Fabrications, was highly commended in the Engineering Excellence category. The recognition highlights her unique ability to blend military discipline with technical expertise in engineering and problem-solving. Before joining Galliford Try, Pam served for 23 years in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers as a metalsmith.

Steve Houckham, Head of Health, Safety & Environment for Environment, received a commendation in the Team Leader of the Year category. A former Royal Marine, Steve joined the Forces at 16 and served on operational tours in Afghanistan. Over the last 18 months, his leadership has played a vital role in driving growth and performance across Galliford Try's Environment business.

Also recognised at the awards was Andrea Clarkson, Senior Estimator for Environment, who was shortlisted in the Champion of Women category. Andrea, a former Military Clerk who served six years in the British Army, was acknowledged for her commitment to improving gender balance in both the Armed Forces community and the wider business sector, as well as her mentorship of female service leavers.

Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, said: "We're delighted to see Pam and Steve receive such high praise at this year’s awards, and to see Andrea recognised for her dedication to supporting women in business. Supporting veterans into fulfilling careers is a key part of who we are, and this recognition reinforces the incredible value they continue to add."
