East Riding Councillors have unanimously approved plans for 173 new homes in Elloughton, marking a major step forward in the village's growth.
The development, proposed by York-based housebuilder Persimmon, will be built on land off Welton Low Road, which is allocated for housing under the East Riding Local Plan.
The scheme includes a range of properties, from one to four-bedroom homes and bungalows, with 26 of the units set to be transferred to a registered housing provider to support affordable housing provision.
In a move to benefit the local community, Persimmon has proposed an exclusivity period for local homebuyers and key workers, offering them first opportunity to reserve homes before the wider market release.
All properties in the development will feature solar panels and electric vehicle charging points as standard, supporting sustainability goals.
The plans also include over 2.5 acres of public open space, incorporating the retention and enhancement of a historic Roman road, with interpretive boards to highlight its heritage.
Persimmon will contribute more than £500,000 in funding for the local area, including allocations for education and the creation of two new football pitches, which will be handed over to East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
