Mitie Group plc has been awarded the Fair Tax Mark certification, recognising its commitment to responsible tax conduct and transparent reporting across all operations, both in the UK and internationally.
The accreditation, granted by the Fair Tax Foundation, is regarded as the gold standard for tax transparency and integrity. Mitie, the UK's leading facilities management and transformation company, becomes the largest company by employee numbers to receive the certification to date.
The Fair Tax Mark is an independent certification awarded to organisations that meet strict assessment criteria around fair tax practices and clear, open reporting. Accredited organisations span a wide range of sectors, including listed companies, social enterprises, co-operatives and large private firms.
As part of the process, Mitie underwent a thorough review of its tax policies, governance, and disclosures. The company’s performance was found to reflect strong adherence to responsible tax practices, underpinned by robust governance frameworks.
Simon Kirkpatrick, CFO of Mitie, said: "Achieving the Fair Tax Mark is a proud milestone for Mitie and reflects our unwavering commitment to transparency and responsible business practices. We believe that transparency and integrity are fundamental to building trust with our colleagues, customers, and communities. As one of the UK's largest employers, we are proud to lead by example and demonstrate that responsible tax conduct is not only good governance, but also good business."
The recognition places Mitie among a growing number of UK and international businesses that see responsible tax behaviour as integral to good corporate citizenship.
Jaime Boswell, Head of Accreditation at the Fair Tax Foundation, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Mitie to our community of responsible businesses that have achieved Fair Tax Mark certification. As the largest employer to receive this prestigious accreditation, Mitie is setting a powerful example of how responsible tax practices can align with commercial success. Their commitment to responsible tax conduct highlights the vital role businesses play in fostering trust and fairness within society."
