London Trams has extended its current Embedded Track Replacement Framework with VolkerRail for a further two years, continuing a long-standing partnership that has delivered vital infrastructure improvements across the network.
The extension follows consistent delivery and performance by VolkerRail since the original framework award in 2022. Over the past two years, the contractor has renewed more than 861 metres of track and seven turnouts across the Croydon Tram network.
Serving Croydon and surrounding areas in south London, London Trams operates a 28km network with 39 tram stops, offering environmentally friendly and modern public transport to thousands of daily passengers.
This latest extension builds on a working relationship between VolkerRail and London Trams that began in 2012, underlining the trust and reliability established over more than a decade.
Niall McCreanor, VolkerRail's director of specialist businesses, said: "This extension is a brilliant showcase of our expertise in light rail and our skills in track renewals that helps providers such as London Tram replace worn out sections of track assets.”
"We look forward to continuing our long relationship with London Trams to ensure smoother and safer journeys for its customers."
