Community groups and voluntary organisations across Basingstoke and Deane are being invited to apply for funding to enhance their facilities, as the borough council reopens its popular Community Infrastructure Fund.

Now in its third year, the scheme offers a £700,000 funding pot for grants aimed at improving existing community spaces. Eligible projects could include upgrades to make facilities more accessible, measures to cut running costs, generate income, or deliver environmental benefits.

Successful applicants can apply for grants ranging from £5,000 to £75,000 through a two-stage application process. The deadline for the first stage is 5pm on Friday 18 July 2025.

Unlike funding schemes for new developments, the Community Infrastructure Fund is specifically designed to help current facilities adapt and improve to meet the evolving needs of their communities. Interested groups are encouraged to attend an information session or book a one-to-one meeting to determine if their proposal aligns with the scheme’s criteria.

Since its launch, the initiative has awarded more than £700,000 across 29 projects. Completed works have included toilet and kitchen refurbishments, improved lighting, installation of solar panels, new flooring and doors, and the creation of two community cafés.
