Esh Group has been recognised as one of the UK's Best Managed Companies 2025, earning a place among just ten private businesses selected nationally for the prestigious accolade.
The award, presented through Deloitte Private's Best Managed Companies programme, honours outstanding organisational performance and a company’s contribution to its sector and the broader UK economy. Independent judges evaluated businesses against four key pillars: strategy, culture and commitment, capabilities and innovation, and governance and financial performance.
The winners were celebrated during a ceremony held on 12 June 2025.
Esh Group Chief Executive Andy Radcliffe said: "I am immensely proud that Esh Group has been announced as one of the UK’s Best Managed Companies 2025. We have been on a journey of transformation over recent years, with everyone in all areas of the business stepping up, pulling together and working incredibly hard to navigate the challenges the industry has faced, all the while embodying our mission, vision and values.
"Our business is in excellent shape, and we're making huge strides in every area of our strategy. To have this recognised externally through the prestigious Best Managed Companies programme really is a humbling moment."
The Best Managed Companies programme is well established internationally in the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific, and this year marks its UK debut. Deloitte Private launched the initiative to highlight and support the UK’s leading privately owned and family businesses.
Claire Evans, Deloitte Private partner and UK Best Managed Companies leader, said: "The Best Managed Companies programme celebrates the passion, resilience, and focus on sustainable growth that are hallmarks of the UK’s leading private businesses.
"These businesses are purpose-driven, disciplined, and industry-leading. They are confidently navigating the future and setting an inspiring standard for success among private businesses in the UK."
Esh currently employs over 800 people and holds its largest-ever forward order book. Key projects in the North East include the Tyne Bridge Restoration, Stockton Waterfront Urban Park and Seaham Garden Village, while in Yorkshire, the business is working on the Ripleyville regeneration development and Hull’s Drypool Bridge refurbishment.
In the utilities sector, Esh recently secured a spot on Northumbrian Water’s Ecosystem framework, with its joint venture Esh-Stantec also named a Living Water Enterprise supply partner on a 12-year capital delivery programme. Esh has additionally been appointed as the sole delivery partner for Northumbrian Water Group’s £120 million Wastewater Networks Framework.
