Gateley Legal has bolstered its national construction practice with the appointment of Richard Allan as a legal director in its Manchester office.
Allan joins from Irwin Mitchell, bringing nearly two decades of experience advising on complex construction and engineering disputes across various sectors. His track record includes representing major UK and international clients—ranging from owners and contractors to consultants and funders, on projects in the UK, Europe, the US, Russia and the Middle East.
He also brings particular expertise in resolving disputes within the energy sector, covering nuclear, combined heat and power, oil, and lithium projects. More recently, Allan has focused on fire safety and cladding-related claims, acting for freeholders, property owners, and contractors.
At Gateley Legal, Allan will strengthen the firm's national construction team, supporting clients on a wide range of construction issues, with a particular emphasis on fire safety.
Richard Allan said: "It's great to join Gateley Legal's construction team. Its national offering is widely recognised within the market and provides a comprehensive service for clients alongside the consultancy businesses within the wider Group which sets them apart within the industry."
Welcoming the appointment, Emlyn Hudson, partner and national head of construction at Gateley Legal, added: "We're pleased to have Richard join our team in Manchester. He brings a wealth of valuable experience spanning a wide range of industry sectors which will really bolster our offering for clients."
