A key milestone has been reached in the Oak Hill Rise housing development in Chippenham, as Persimmon Homes Wessex and Selwood Housing formally sealed a deal to deliver new affordable homes aimed at easing housing demand in Wiltshire.
The two organisations have exchanged contracts for six homes—four for affordable rent and two for shared ownership, which will be handed over to Selwood Housing upon completion. The homes form part of a broader plan to deliver 95 zero-carbon-ready properties on the brownfield site off Malmesbury Road.
In total, 26 of the 95 homes will be allocated to Selwood Housing customers. The development is designed to meet the needs of first-time buyers, growing families, and downsizers, with an emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency.
Oak Hill Rise is being built without gas, with all homes featuring air source heat pumps, solar panels, and electric vehicle charging points. The project replaces a previously vacant and underused building, unlocking the potential of the centrally located site.
In addition to the housing, the scheme will provide accessible green spaces, new pedestrian and cycle connections, and biodiversity enhancements such as bird and bat boxes. More than £1 million will also be invested into local infrastructure, including improvements to schools, sports pitches and play areas.
