Higgins Partnerships and Wandle Housing Association marked a key construction milestone on Monday, 19th May, with a topping out ceremony at the 46–76 Summerstown development in Merton, South London.

Councillors and project partners gathered to celebrate the progress on the eight-storey scheme, which will provide 93 new affordable homes.

The development includes 39 London Living Rent homes and 54 Shared Ownership properties, designed to be high-quality and energy-efficient. Supported by a social housing grant from the Greater London Authority (GLA), the project forms part of a wider regeneration initiative in the area.

Originally designed by CZWG Architects LLP, the plans have been developed further by Higgins Partnerships, working closely with the GLA to deliver homes that meet the evolving needs of the community.

Yinka Bolaji, Executive Director of Development and Property at Wandle, said: "I am delighted to see how the building work at Summerstown is coming along, and am looking forward to welcoming our future residents.

"Our residents are at the heart of Wandle's business, and I am proud of the high-quality and affordable homes we are providing to one of our core boroughs."

Dominic Higgins, Chief Operating Officer at Higgins, added: "We are proud to reach this milestone at Summerstown, which will not only deliver affordable homes but leave a legacy for the people who live and work in this neighbourhood. This development exemplifies our commitment to creating sustainable, well-designed homes that meet the needs of the community today and for generations to come."

The development will also contribute to the local community through over £150,000 in Section 106 contributions, supporting essential health and education services. Once complete, it is expected to generate approximately £180,000 per year in council tax revenue for the borough.

Both Higgins and Wandle remain committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable housing and fostering vibrant communities with lasting social impact.
