Stanmore Contractors has announced the launch of Stanmore Design House, a new division dedicated to providing RIBA Stage 4 and beyond technical design services, paired with integrated procurement and construction advice.
The division launches at a pivotal moment for the construction industry, as new regulatory requirements under the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) regime begin to reshape project timelines and responsibilities. Under the new rules, developers must not only complete technical designs (RIBA Stage 4) but also start tendering, engage contractors, and prepare detailed designs (RIBA Stage 5) prior to BSR Gateway 2 submissions.
Stanmore Design House aims to simplify this process by delivering an end-to-end service that eliminates the need for standalone design consultancies. Instead, clients—ranging from developers and contractors to housing associations—can now access fully integrated support that ensures design outputs are practical, buildable, and aligned with construction realities.
The new division will produce a complete suite of RIBA Stage 4 deliverables, including elevation drawings, section and plan details, subframe layouts, wind load assessments, thermal analysis, and supplier coordination. Stanmore will apply its deep contractor expertise throughout the process to ensure real-world feasibility and reduce late-stage revisions.
This technical support will be enhanced with detailed procurement and construction guidance, offering multiple supplier options, evaluating material availability, managing early QA through factory visits, and factoring in logistics and site conditions during the design phase. The goal is to minimise the risk of resubmission at Gateway 2, avoiding project delays and regulatory setbacks.
Raj Manak, Managing Director at Stanmore, said: "With the new BSR framework, it's more important than ever to integrate procurement and construction insight into the technical design stage as early as possible. Stanmore Design House will offer clients exactly that kind of insight-led support.
"Our ultimate aim is to make technical design seamless, efficient, and effective. We want to reduce risk, save costs, and deliver solutions that work in practice and not just in theory."
