GRS Group has completed the redevelopment of the East Stand at Northampton Town Football Club's Sixfields Stadium, marking the end of a long journey for the club to finish the job and enhance the venue's capacity and facilities.
The project, which GRS began in April 2024, involved the redesign, reconstruction and refitting of the stand. It was delivered on schedule and was open for use by the end of the 24/25 English Football League season after the club successfully retained their League One status. An official opening will take place during the 25/26 EFL season.
GRS led the reconstruction effort, supported by its subsidiary businesses NEA Contracts, who specialise in building refurbishments, and ISC who completed the groundworks and civil engineering. The new facility increases Sixfields Stadium’s capacity to more than 8,200. It introduces the club’s first ever pitch-facing hospitality, including executive boxes, new dining areas and an accessible viewing platform for wheelchair users. Additional improvements include expanded parking facilities and modernised amenities for fans.
Kelvin Thomas, Chairman of NTFC, expressed his satisfaction with the completed project: "GRS have done some fantastic work, not just the speed of the build but the quality as well, and the end result is really impressive. We all know the structure we inherited wasn't ideal, and it hasn’t always been easy, but the whole project team have done a super job, and we are very proud that it’s finished to an excellent standard and is now in daily use."
Jon Fisher, Chief Executive of GRS Group, commented on the project's significance: "We were pleased to have the opportunity to complete the works on the East Stand. Northamptonshire is our heartlands, and with our local connections we understood the importance to the club and the community of delivering this project. Completing a half-finished building was always going to be tough, but GRS is not the kind of business to shy away from a challenge, and to see the fans using the new stand by the end of the season was really gratifying."
Completion of the East Stand represents a significant milestone for Northampton Town FC, its supporters, and the wider community, symbolising a new era of growth and engagement for the club. NTFC recently announced Lawrence Cleaning Services (LCS) as the stand's official sponsor and it will now be known as the LCS Stand.
Beyond the stadium redevelopment, GRS also extended its partnership with the club by sponsoring the NTFC Community Pitch. The facility has been open to the local community since November 2023, helping to promote health and wellbeing through sport and exercise.
