Engineering and infrastructure group Murphy has announced a strategic partnership with Australia-based Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure.

The deal will see Murphy take a 40% stake in Abergeldie, a move that strengthens both companies' capabilities and reflects a shared commitment to values-led infrastructure delivery. The transaction is expected to complete in May.

Headquartered in Sydney, Abergeldie was founded in 1994 by Mick Boyle and his wife Robin Craig. Since its inception, the company has grown steadily, expanding across Australia and New Zealand and employing more than 800 skilled professionals. In 2024, Abergeldie achieved a record performance, delivering complex projects across the utilities, road, rail, and energy sectors.


Murphy and Abergeldie share not only expertise in critical infrastructure but also a common foundation as family-owned businesses with deep commitments to community engagement and people-first values. Both organisations are guided by shared principles of respect, integrity, trust, and accountability—forming the basis for a strong cultural alignment.

The new partnership is set to bolster Abergeldie's ability to deliver larger-scale infrastructure projects while preserving its operational independence. Murphy's investment will support Abergeldie's next phase of development, bringing additional capacity, knowledge, and international experience to the Australian firm’s operations.

For Murphy, the move continues a strategic international expansion beyond its UK and Ireland roots. The company entered the Canadian market in 2014 through a joint venture with Surerus Pipeline Inc and expanded into the United States in 2023 with the acquisition of WHC Energy Services.
