With over 1.4 million kilometres of underground services in the UK, underground cables, pipes, and services are hit and damaged every day, sometimes resulting in serious injury, the cost of repair, and a loss of business reputation.
This is mainly caused by operatives not being able to use cable avoidance equipment correctly and not understanding the limitations of a CAT, resulting in unidentified services. Training is vitally important for everyone's safety.
One of the biggest issues facing many is locating fibre optics and communication ducting. By using a sonde or flexi-trace, you can easily and accurately locate these, as well as drainage and other ducting, which can not be located by a CAT alone.
This is why Fact continues to enhance its training packages and cover the location of ducting, using a CAT, Genny and Flexitrace . With our specially developed training facility with underground cables, and ducting, candidates can learn how to use the CAT in Power, Radio and Genny mode as well as using a Flexi-trace to locate ducting.
FaCT is approved by Lantra to deliver cable avoidance courses so you can request a Lantra Approved course, and receive a Lantra Skills Card and certificate.
