Beard Construction is calling on suppliers and subcontractors to join its growing supply chain network as the company looks to expand its regional footprint and sustain its strong track record for quality delivery.
The call comes after a record-breaking year in which the firm achieved a turnover of £198 million and employed 350 people across its five offices in Bristol, Guildford, Oxford, Southampton, and Swindon. Now, Beard is seeking expertise in key trades including electrical, mechanical, groundworks, roofing, and brickwork to support its expanding pipeline of work for 2025 and beyond.
Dedicated to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Beard has committed to a minimum 30% SME spend through its Social Value Framework and places a strong emphasis on local partnerships.
Mike Hedges, company operations director at Beard, said: "The strength and collaboration in our supply chain partnerships is key to maintaining our reputation for quality and excellence. We’re passionate about working with people and companies who share our values and our drive for prompt and faultless delivery."
Earlier this year, Beard became one of the first contractors to receive the Fair Payment Code bronze award, replacing the Prompt Payment Code, recognising its commitment to timely payments and supplier support.
Feedback from Beard's first supply chain survey highlighted the company’s strong industry relationships, with an impressive Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 80%, outperforming the construction sector average of 64%. Suppliers praised Beard’s high standards in health and safety (88.33%) and quality (87.5%), while also commending the welcoming and well-organised site culture, which scored 9.08 out of 10 on average.
"We're pleased with the positive response to our very first contractors survey, with an average score of over 80% across every category," Hedges added.
"Our supply chain partners have been an integral part of company growth in recent years, and we’re proud to have nurtured long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with many firms. As Beard continues to grow, we are actively looking for trusted partners to join our supply chain.
"Our survey results were positive across the board, but that doesn't mean we can become complacent. This feedback from our network has also identified some areas for improvement and has helped us to develop a detailed action plan."
