Willmott Dixon has completed construction of two cutting-edge buildings at Oxford Brookes University's Headington Hill campus.
The newly completed Teaching and Workshop buildings will provide a dynamic environment for students, researchers, and the broader community. The Teaching Building, now formally open, offers round-the-clock access and spans three floors. It includes advanced facilities such as robotics labs, 3D printing suites, graphic design studios, a digital theatre, and a Virtual Reality Cave. A central atrium and café create a welcoming hub designed to foster collaboration and creativity.
A standout feature is the display of Formula 1 racing cars, which support student learning in areas like suspension systems and aerodynamics. The space also serves as the new home for Oxford Brookes Racing, the university’s student motorsport team, offering hands-on experience in a high-performance engineering environment.
Set to open fully in the 2025/26 academic year, the Workshop Building will house industry-standard technical equipment and simulate real-world workspaces to better prepare students for employment in engineering and related fields.
Designed by ADP Architecture, the buildings reflect Oxford Brookes’ focus on innovation and sustainability, while strengthening its role as a leader in technology-driven higher education.
Richard Poulter, Managing Director of Willmott Dixon in the South said: "It has been a privilege to work alongside Oxford Brookes University to bring their ambitious vision to life. These exceptional new buildings are not only architecturally striking but are also packed with advanced technologies and innovative learning spaces that will serve students, staff, and industry partners for years to come. We're proud to have delivered facilities that will help shape the future of education and research, and which reflect the University’s clear commitment to excellence, sustainability and community impact."
