United Utilities Begins Major Sewer Upgrade In Burneside

United Utilities has commenced a major infrastructure project to upgrade the sewer network in Burneside.

The project includes the replacement of approximately 820 metres of sewer with larger diameter pipes and the construction of a new pumping station equipped with storage capacity. The upgrades are designed to enhance the efficiency and performance of the existing wastewater system.

Work began this week and will be delivered in phases through to summer 2027.

As part of the first phase, a road diversion is currently in place on Burneside Road and will remain until 28 May 2025. The signed route diverts traffic via Windermere Road (A5284), the A591, and Hollins Lane.
