Network Rail will be undertaking essential maintenance work on the Heart of Wales line between Llanwrtyd and Pantyffynnon from Tuesday 6 May to Friday 23 May,

The closure will allow engineering teams to carry out a series of vital upgrades and repairs in one coordinated effort, helping to minimise future disruption for passengers and residents living near the line.

Key works include the installation of a new cattle grid, repairs to bridges and river defence walls, and improvements to drainage systems to reduce the risk of flooding during extreme weather. Vegetation management will also be carried out to improve visibility for train drivers and ensure signals remain clear of obstructions. In addition, teams will remove graffiti and fly-tipping along the route.

The works form part of Network Rail's ongoing investment in maintaining critical rail infrastructure and delivering smoother, safer journeys for passengers.

To facilitate the project, replacement bus services will operate between Carmarthen and Swansea to Llandrindod for the duration of the closure. Passengers are advised to check journey times in advance and allow for extra travel time.
