Construction has officially begun on a new £13 million luxury care home in Wavendon, near Milton Keynes.
The project, led by contractor Clegg Construction, will deliver a state-of-the-art, three-storey, 96-bed facility for Hampton Healthcare, a subsidiary of the Rochmills Group.
The new care home is being built on land behind the Woburn Sands Emporium garden centre, off Newport Road. It will offer high-end amenities including a rooftop garden complete with a sky bar and café, a private dining area, cinema, and an entertainment suite. The development also includes a new car park and landscaped grounds, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Despite the nearby construction, Woburn Sands Emporium garden centre remains fully open and will not be affected by the project.
A ceremony was recently held to mark the groundbreaking, celebrating what Clegg Construction described as the latest in a series of care home projects for the firm.
Michael Sims, Managing Director of Clegg Construction, said: "We were very pleased to have been appointed by Rochmills Group to build this new care home, which will provide modern facilities for residents from the local community.
"Clegg Construction has significant experience of building new care homes, having completed schemes across the country in places such as Peterborough, Loughborough, Bromsgrove, Norwich, Littleover in Derbyshire, Tadcaster in Yorkshire and Birstall in Leicestershire.
"It is always exciting to see work beginning on site on a new scheme and we look forward to developing this facility along with our partners and adding it to our extensive portfolio in this sector."
Joining Clegg Construction on the project are APC Architects, Ridge and Partners LLP as engineers, and CS2 Limited as the employer's agent.
