S.E.M.CO Wrap Up Bespoke Racking Project For East Midlands-Based Timber Merchant

S.E.M.CO specialises in bespoke racking for timber merchants, manufacturing and supplying directly from its purpose-built facility in Cannock, Staffordshire, and are truly experts in the field.

Our reputation in the industry certainly caught the eye of this well-established Timber Merchant who wanted to relocate one of their thirteen branches to a new fifty-six square foot site, in the East Midlands.

After being awarded the contract, our team of in-house engineers got to work designing a racking system for both external and internal environments that were suitable for trade, DIY and retail operations.

"Working with S.E.M.CO provided the adaptability we were looking for and confidence in the team by asking the right questions," Chris Whitlock – Construction Project Manager.

New Site, New Racking Systems

The Timber Merchant required various racking types and configurations that would be used both indoors and outdoors. They also wanted a modern aesthetic in line with the direction that the business is headed in.

Working with the merchant, our teams used their years of experience and industry knowledge to put together a highly technical and detailed drawing of MDF Moulding Pigeon Hole Racking, PAR Timber Pigeon Hole Racking, Sheet Material Laydown Racking, Door Casing Pigeon Hole Racking, and both single—and double-sided Cantilever Racking.

"If you are looking for a racking supplier, I would definitely recommend engaging with S.E.M.CO, you are dealing with professionals," Matt Charlton - Customer.

S.E.M.CO are full members of SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association), with our teams fully SARI (SEMA Approved Rack Inspector), and SEIRS (Storage Equipment Installers Registration Scheme) registered.

Racking Compliance - Health & Safety First

As a concept-to-completion supplier, S.E.M.CO offers guaranteed compliance from the start to the finish of your project; including optional annual inspections by our in-house SEMA Approved Racking Inspectors (SARI's). An annual inspection is essential for the maintenance of your racking and compliance after completion.

Previously, the internal team at this Timber Merchant built their Pigeon Hole Racking using timber but decided to improve site safety and longevity of the racks by choosing S.E.M.CO steel racking.

"We chose S.E.M.CO because of their knowledge and thoroughness in their racking design, they took our concept and created a solution…and the price was right!" Chris Whitlock - Construction Project Manager.

SEMA Full Member - SEIRS Installation Team

When it comes to choosing a supplier for your racking, it is important to choose correctly.

S.E.M.CO employs all our installers directly (meaning no sub-contractors), with every team registered and trained under the Storage Equipment Installers Registration Scheme (SEIRS). By using in-house installation teams, you can be certain that you will receive the best possible service and quality of work.

Timber Merchant site opened March 2025.

"The installation teams are good and do a great job. They are very thorough and know what they are doing, they got on well with everyone on site," Matt Charlton – Customer.
