A historic 18th-century landmark has been carefully restored as part of the major Garendon Park housing development in Loughborough.

The Grade II* listed Obelisk, located within the grounds of the former Garendon Hall estate, had endured years of weathering before undergoing a sensitive restoration led by Persimmon Homes North Midlands. The work, completed with the support of local planners and heritage specialists, marks a key milestone in the ongoing transformation of the area.

The restoration is part of a wider project being delivered in partnership with William Davis Ltd, which will see over 3,000 new homes built on the site. The development also includes plans for two new primary schools, public green spaces, allotments, and a strategic link road aimed at easing local traffic congestion.

Planning for the Garendon Park development was first submitted in 2014. The Obelisk's restoration is one of several significant steps forward as construction continues to reshape this historic part of Loughborough.
