Vistry Group Delivers Over 20 New Homes In Caversham

Vistry Group has completed and handed over 22 new affordable homes at its Emmer Green Drive development in Caversham, marking a key milestone in the transformation of the former Reading Golf Club site.

The latest phase includes 11 homes for affordable rent and 11 shared ownership properties, which have been transferred to affordable housing provider Abri. These homes are part of a broader effort to address the growing demand for accessible housing options in the area.

The first completions at the development took place in November 2024, and once fully built, Emmer Green Drive will comprise 156 homes for private sale and 67 affordable properties available through low-cost rent and shared ownership schemes. The development will also feature play areas and green open spaces to support recreation and local biodiversity.

Homes at the site are available in a variety of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom designs. In support of sustainability goals, the majority of properties will be equipped with photovoltaic solar panels and electric vehicle charging points, while around a third will feature air source heat pumps for energy-efficient heating.

Trevor Wicks, Managing Director for Vistry Thames Valley, said: "Following the first completions late last year, we are proud to continue this momentum at Emmer Green Drive by delivering a further 22 much-needed affordable homes to local residents. This milestone reflects our commitment to providing high-quality, sustainable housing that meets the needs of the community. We are delighted to be working with Abri to help more people take their first steps onto the housing ladder or secure a home at an affordable rent in this sought-after location."
