Complete construction partner Stepnell has officially launched a standalone bespoke joinery business, Lawford Bespoke Joinery.
While headquartered in Rugby, the new business will operate nationwide, delivering custom joinery solutions across a broad range of sectors including commercial, residential, heritage, and hospitality. The launch builds on Stepnell's longstanding reputation for high-quality construction and specialist joinery.
Lawford Bespoke Joinery is powered by a skilled team of eight joiners and craftsmen, with a mission to deliver precision-crafted, made-to-measure joinery. The company will offer everything from intricate heritage restorations to modern interior fittings, including bespoke furniture, integrated panel systems (IPS), and acoustic panels.
Lee Grant, joinery manager and a Stepnell veteran of 41 years, commented: "Joinery has been integral to Stepnell’s construction capabilities for more than 155 years. Retaining fundamental expertise in craftsmanship remains vital to providing sustainable construction works. This new venture will allow us to grow and flourish as an independent business. We are passionate about creating bespoke, high-quality joinery solutions that elevate any project."
While continuing to support Stepnell's construction projects, Lawford Bespoke Joinery will now also expand its reach by developing its own client base. The team’s craftsmanship has already been showcased in recent projects such as the reception area at Oakley Grange Care Home in Warwick, boarding premises at Eton College, and custom outdoor seating at Greenstone Primary School in Coalville.
Tom Wakeford, Managing Director at Stepnell, said: "Lawford Bespoke Joinery creates new possibilities for our joinery team to expand externally, support a broader range of clients while continuing to deliver the highest standards of craftsmanship.
"The decision to establish Lawford Bespoke Joinery as a standalone business aligns with Stepnell's long-term strategy to enhance its specialist services, as has also been the case with energy management business Step Energy. By separating these specialist services, we become more agile and responsive to customer need, furthering our position as a trusted complete construction partner – supporting both private and public sectors."
