Indurent has submitted a planning application for the final phase of development at Indurent Park Longbridge West, marking a major milestone in the ongoing regeneration of one of Birmingham's most historically significant industrial sites.
Located 12km south-west of Birmingham city centre, the site was formerly part of the MG Rover car manufacturing plant, once home to iconic British vehicles such as the Mini and the Austin 7. The plant closed in 2005 and its redevelopment has since become a symbol of economic transformation in the region.
Indurent's latest plans propose more than 339,000 sq ft of high-quality industrial and logistics space, including supporting office areas, across 13 units. The £30 million development will target BREEAM 'Excellent' and EPC A ratings, ensuring the new workspace is energy-efficient and built to the highest environmental standards.
The scheme is geared towards attracting high-growth sectors including advanced manufacturing, logistics and distribution.
Once operational, the development is expected to create 590 full-time jobs, alongside 280 construction roles and a range of local training and skills development opportunities.
In addition to delivering modern employment space, the proposals aim to improve local infrastructure and sustainability. Enhancements include better integration with the River Rea valley walking and cycling routes, as well as improved transport links to Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region.
The planning submission closely follows a visit from West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker on Friday, 11 April, which marked 20 years since the closure of the MG Rover plant. During the visit, Indurent hosted a site tour and presented its long-term vision for Indurent Park Longbridge West, underlining the project's role in supporting the area's economic revival.
If approved, the final phase will solidify Indurent Park Longbridge West as a major hub for industrial innovation, helping to transform a historic automotive site into a thriving centre for modern employment and growth.
