A new health centre in Didcot has reached a significant milestone after receiving planning approval from the Vale of White Horse District Council.
The centre, located in Great Western Park, is set to enhance primary health care delivery in the area, which is managed by the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board.
The site was committed by developer Taylor Wimpey as part of its section 106 planning obligations. In collaboration with Woodlands Medical Centre, their appointed developer Assura and the district council, detailed plans for the facility have been refined to better meet local needs.
An updated planning application, submitted in February, addressed earlier concerns by including comprehensive design details in a new design statement. The statement outlined landscaping, parking arrangements, and sustainability measures, such as the incorporation of low-energy LED lighting, aimed at optimising the building’s services for the surrounding community.
The application was approved by an officer under delegated authority, marking a major step forward for the project as local health services prepare to expand their capacity in Didcot.
