Construction Underway On New Extra Care Housing Scheme In Hucknall

Construction is well underway on a new £15.9 million extra care housing development in the heart of Hucknall, located on the site of the former police station.

The project is being led by Midlands-based Deeley Construction on behalf of affordable housing provider Preferred Homes Ltd and will deliver 73 apartments for affordable rent.

The development will transform the derelict site of the former police station, which has now been demolished to make way for the new facility. Designed to provide modern and comfortable living spaces, the project will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments spread across two buildings—a three-storey and a four-storey structure.

In addition to the residential units, the scheme will provide a range of communal spaces for residents and the local community, including a lounge, dining area, plant room, multi-purpose room, and a bistro. These facilities are designed to encourage social interaction and improve the quality of life for all who live there.

The Hucknall development on Watnall Road marks the second project that Deeley Construction has delivered on behalf of Preferred Homes. The scheme is also designed with sustainability in mind, featuring a rooftop photovoltaic system for renewable energy, air source heat pumps in each apartment, and four electric vehicle charging points for residents.

As a Homes England investment partner, Preferred Homes is partially funding the scheme through the Affordable Homes Programme. Once completed, the new extra care housing development will provide much-needed affordable housing and a high-quality living environment for local residents.
