Hampshire County Council's Regulatory Committee has granted planning consent for a new two-storey school designed to support 125 pupils aged 8 to 16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Designed by the County Council's Property Services team, the school will provide a safe and inclusive learning environment, featuring external play areas, parking, and dedicated drop-off facilities. The project is part of Hampshire’s broader commitment to expanding special educational provision, with a target of creating 1,000 new special needs places by 2030.
The school, named Luminous Oak, will be managed by Solent Academies Trust, which will oversee its building maintenance, management, and insurance. Ahead of the school’s scheduled opening in September 2026, the academy trust will hold a consultation between 2 May and 20 June to gather feedback on its mission, vision, curriculum, and integration with the local community.
