BAM has commenced work on the first phase of the Schiphol Plaza bus station renewal.
The bus station at Schiphol Plaza is undergoing a major transformation, with the first phase of works now in full swing. The project is being carried out on behalf of Project MKS – Multimodal Hub Schiphol, a collaboration between the Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management, the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer, the Amsterdam Transport Region, NS, ProRail, and Schiphol. The initiative aims to enhance Schiphol's role as a comfortable and safe transport hub, ensuring increased capacity to support future growth.
The renewal project, designed by Benthem Crouwel NACO (BCN), will modernise the bus station to better accommodate the growing number of travellers passing through Schiphol each year. The new design prioritises accessibility, efficiency, and sustainability to create a seamless transit experience for passengers.
Commitment to Sustainable ConstructionSustainability is a key focus in the construction process. BAM is utilising electric cranes, electric loaders, and electric hand tools to minimize environmental impact. These advanced, quiet machines contribute to a cleaner and quieter working environment. Additionally, charging points have been installed within the construction site to efficiently power the equipment, reinforcing the project's commitment to eco-friendly building practices.
As work progresses, Schiphol Plaza is set to emerge as a state-of-the-art multimodal hub, offering improved connectivity and a more sustainable travel experience for passengers.
