Work on the new £1.73 million East Lane Gateway link road in Doncaster is set to be completed this summer.
The road will connect East Lane in Stainforth to the Unity Way roundabout, significantly improving access for residents and easing congestion on busy routes such as Waggons Way.
Funded by the UK Government and overseen by the Stainforth Town Deal Board, the project aims to enhance local infrastructure by providing better connectivity to the M18 and direct access to the railway station from the new entrance on Waggons Way. The new road is also expected to create employment opportunities and reduce pressure on the existing junction with East Lane.
The development includes a new footpath, a shared pedestrian and cycleway, improved street lighting, and landscaping to enhance the area. The work is being carried out with the support of Waystone and the Hatfield Pit Club, ensuring a community-focused approach.
The East Lane Gateway project is part of a broader initiative by the Stainforth Town Deal Board to boost economic growth and infrastructure in the area. This latest development follows the award of £21.6 million in funding in December 2022, aimed at revitalising Stainforth and creating new opportunities for residents.
