Greenbox Darlington has officially reached completion, providing over 400,000 sq. ft. of sustainable, Grade A logistics and industrial space in the North East. The project, a joint venture between Partners Group and Citivale, marks a significant milestone in delivering best-in-class, environmentally responsible infrastructure.
The completion ceremony, attended by project partners, local council leaders, and stakeholders, celebrated the achievement of Net Zero Carbon in Construction and Operation, along with EPC 'A' and BREEAM 'Excellent' ratings.
Greenbox Darlington consists of three industrial units, ranging from 84,950 sq. ft. to 215,360 sq. ft. The development emphasized environmental stewardship throughout construction, including a green supply chain collaboration and on-site sustainability initiatives. Notably, the project pioneered the use of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG), achieving a 44 tCO2e reduction over 22 weeks.
Strategically located near the A66 and A1(M), Greenbox Darlington offers excellent road access and proximity to Teesside International Airport and regional ports, facilitating access to global markets. The units feature 50m yard depths and 50Kn per m2 floor loading, catering to specific occupier requirements.
James Appleton-Metcalfe, CEO at Citivale, stated: "Greenbox Darlington embodies our commitment to delivering sustainable, Grade A logistics space that meets the evolving needs of modern businesses. By targeting Net Zero Carbon in Construction and Operation, we have not only reduced emissions but also empowered our prospective occupiers to operate more sustainably from day one."
Councillor Stephen Harker, Leader of Darlington Council, commented: "Darlington is quickly establishing itself as a great place to live, work or do business. The state-of-the-art facilities available at Greenbox are setting new benchmarks for sustainability in the logistics industry which will help to attract further investment to the town and will create more high-quality jobs for local people."
Danny Nelson, Managing Director – Industrial, Distribution & Logistics at Winvic, added: "Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Winvic, and partnering with Greenbox has provided a fantastic opportunity to drive innovation in sustainable industrial development. We are immensely proud to have played a key role in delivering this Net Zero Carbon development."
