A local green space in Seacroft, Leeds, has been revitalised thanks to a new council housing project.
The development, which is nearing completion on Brooklands Avenue, will deliver 33 high-quality homes for affordable rent as part of Leeds City Council’s Housing Growth Programme (CHGP).
While the new homes are set to benefit those who move into them, the project also includes significant upgrades to the nearby green space, enhancing the local environment for the entire community.
The improvements to the green space have been funded through the development and were carried out in collaboration with environmental charity Groundwork Yorkshire. They include:
• Tidying up a woodland area between Brooklands Avenue and Seacroft Village Green.
• Planting trees, shrubs, and bulbs on two plots of land next to The Green, a road leading off Brooklands Avenue.
• Enhancing a footpath that runs between The Green and Redmire Drive, making it more accessible for local residents.
The enhancements were made following consultation with residents and regular users of the green space to ensure the improvements reflected the needs and desires of the local community.
