Costain Wins Multi-Million-Pound Framework

Construction News Image
Costain has been awarded a significant multi-million-pound framework to support the construction of Sizewell C, a major new nuclear power station in the UK.

The ten-year framework will see Costain deliver expertise across three key areas: delivery integration, quality assurance, and engineering integration.

Sizewell C, a 3.2-gigawatt project, is set to become one of the UK’s largest net-zero initiatives. Once operational, it will generate low-carbon electricity to power six million homes, playing a crucial role in the UK’s drive toward a more resilient and decarbonised energy system.

As part of its framework, Costain will leverage its extensive experience to ensure high-quality delivery, focusing on health and safety, programme management, and quality control. The company will work closely with Sizewell C, its delivery partners, and the local supply chain to maintain rigorous standards throughout the project’s lifecycle.

In addition to its technical contributions, Costain will collaborate with Sizewell C to create opportunities for developing skills within the sector. This includes providing support for early career professionals, helping to cultivate the next generation of talent for the nuclear and energy industries.

Bob Anstey, sector director, defence and nuclear energy at Costain, commented: "This project is a vital part of creating a sustainable future. We have a long and successful track record in delivering for our civil nuclear customers, with a highly qualified and experienced workforce that consistently works to the highest safety and quality standards.

"A key part of our role will be to help ensure the project leaves a positive legacy, and we look forward to working closely with Sizewell C on a range of social value and employment initiatives that improve lives and provide long-term benefits to local communities."
