Shropshire Council has confirmed that Clun No2 Bridge, which spans a tributary of the River Clun, will be closed to traffic for essential maintenance works from 24 February to 5 March 2025.

The planned works will involve the removal of vegetation from the bridge structure, general repointing, and the dismantling and rebuilding of the upstream parapet to ensure the bridge's long-term stability and safety.

Due to the nature of the work, the bridge will be closed 24 hours a day to vehicles during this period. A signed diversion route will direct traffic via local roads.

However, pedestrian and dismounted cyclist access will remain open throughout the duration of the works, ensuring that local residents and visitors can continue to cross the bridge on foot or by bike.

The maintenance work will be carried out by Shropshire Council's term contractor, Kier, with oversight from engineering consultancy WSP on behalf of the Council. The project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve infrastructure across the county.
