A major milestone was reached at the Watford Riverwell regeneration project with the topping out of Block 10, a four-storey block of maisonettes featuring 12 affordable housing units.
This event marks the completion of the highest point of construction for the first phase of the Avenues residential development, which will deliver 62 private homes and 23 affordable units, including 20 social rent properties, to provide sustainable housing for both new and future communities in Watford.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from Kier Property, Watford Borough Council (WBC), Watford Community Housing Trust (WCHT), Kier Construction, and Watford’s Mayor, Peter Taylor. The event highlighted the progress made on this transformative project, which aims to meet the growing housing needs of the area.
The Avenues development is part of the wider Watford Riverwell regeneration and will deliver 85 high-quality, energy-efficient homes designed with a focus on sustainability. The affordable housing units feature communal green spaces, pedestrian-friendly streets, and future-proofed infrastructure to create a lasting, positive impact for generations to come.
The joint venture between Kier Property and Watford Borough Council has already delivered several key components of the regeneration, including the Mayfield Residential Retirement Village, the restoration of the River Colne, the landscaped Colne Island Park, and commercial developments. Additional phases of the project are underway, including Avenues Phase 2 and the new Neighbourhood Square, which will further enhance the area with more homes, community spaces, and improved connectivity.
