Building Work Begins On Overstone Park Primary School

Construction News Image
Construction work has officially commenced on Overstone Park Primary School, a state-of-the-art, non-selective, state-funded educational facility at the Overstone Leys development in north-east Northampton.

The milestone was marked by a groundbreaking ceremony which signalled the start of a major project aimed at meeting the growing demand for primary school places in the area.

Scheduled for completion in April 2026, Overstone Park Primary School will initially accommodate 30 Reception pupils. To ensure a smooth start for the first cohort, students will attend Wootton Park School, its sister school within the Northampton Free School Trust, for the first two terms, from September 2025 to March 2026, before moving to the new site.

The school will expand annually, adding new Reception intakes in line with local housing growth and demand, ultimately reaching full capacity for 420 pupils aged 4-11 years.

Modelled on the successful Wootton Park School, which received an 'Outstanding' rating across all categories in 2019, Overstone Park Primary School will focus on academic excellence, core values, and fostering strong citizenship, community, and service. The school aims to provide a solid foundation for growth, ensuring that every child can thrive and succeed.

West Northamptonshire Council is overseeing the project, working alongside Steele and Bray, the appointed contractor, and PhP Architects, who have designed the school.
