Skanska UK has joined forces with Multiverse to expand its digital capabilities, focusing on developing critical data and AI skills within the business.
This partnership will enhance Skanska's existing Data Academy and introduce a new AI offering, aimed at boosting productivity and ensuring projects are consistently completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The collaboration has already seen over 50 Skanska employees trained through specialist learning programmes designed to enhance their skills. The latest initiatives will further support Skanska’s digital transformation strategy and improve the company’s ability to deliver high-quality, data-driven results.
Training is being provided by Multiverse, a tech company focused on closing skills gaps through personalised, on-the-job learning. Since 2016, Multiverse has trained more than 16,000 apprentices in AI, data, and digital skills.
The expanded Data Academy will offer apprenticeships, including the Level 3 'Data & Insights for Business Decisions' programme, which covers essential technical skills such as data cleaning, formatting, and preparation. The Level 4 'Data Fellowship' programme aims to develop high-performing analysts and future data science professionals. Additionally, Skanska UK is pioneering AI skills in the construction sector by launching its first cohort on Multiverse's 'AI for Business Value' programme. This course will teach apprentices how to use AI tools to identify opportunities for business growth, predict project performance, and reduce manual tasks—freeing up time for skilled workers.
According to the Multiverse Skills Intelligence Report, nearly a third of employees’ time in the UK construction sector is spent working with data in unproductive ways. By upskilling its workforce, Skanska UK aims to address this challenge, driving better outcomes for customers and strengthening its position in an increasingly data-driven construction industry.
