Contractor G F Tomlinson is making strong progress on the Redmoor Academy expansion project, with the completion of the steel frame structure marking a key milestone.
The project, funded by Leicestershire County Council, will deliver state-of-the-art educational facilities to accommodate the academy’s growing student population.
Located on Wykin Road, the development includes a 696 sq. metre sports hall, designed for a range of indoor sports including cricket, basketball, netball, badminton, and handball. The new facility will also feature changing rooms, a reception area, offices, four classrooms, and a fitness suite, creating a modern and dynamic learning environment for students.
This latest expansion follows the completion of a new staff car park last year, also delivered by G F Tomlinson.
Construction is progressing well, with Vibro stone piling, drainage, and concrete foundations already in place. The steel frame has now been erected, while ongoing works include the installation of pre-cast floor planks and sub-structure masonry.
Once complete, the new sports hall will enhance both academic and extracurricular opportunities for students, reflecting Redmoor Academy's commitment to providing high-quality learning and recreational facilities.
