Work To Begin On New Sixth Form Centre In Telford Town Centre

Construction News Image
Construction is set to begin on a new Sixth Form Centre at Station Quarter, bringing a state-of-the-art education facility to Telford.

The project will see the former Addenbrooke House offices transformed into a cutting-edge learning hub, allowing Telford College to relocate and expand its A-Level provision.

Telford & Wrekin Council, committed to enhancing local education opportunities, has provided funding for the development, which will sit alongside The Quad—a building that opened in September 2024, housing Harper Adams University, Telford College’s Digital Skills Hub, and a Business Start-Up Hub.

The multi-million-pound Sixth Form Centre will offer students:

• State-of-the-art science labs for physics, biology, and chemistry

• A drama and arts studio

• A bespoke library for learners

• A self-contained sixth form environment, designed to enhance independent learning

Telford College said the central location will make A-Level education more accessible to students across the borough, particularly those from South Telford. Currently, more than 500 young people travel outside the area for A-Level studies, and this new facility aims to bridge that gap.

Local construction firm McPhillips (Wellington) Ltd has been appointed to deliver the project, which is expected to be completed by September 2026. The Sixth Form Centre is part of the Station Quarter regeneration project, which also includes new homes and public realm improvements to make the town centre more attractive and accessible.
